Matt White

Matt White is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 20 years' experience in the commercial property sector, together with specialist qualifications in the field of sustainability.

Matt was formerly an Associate Director of Building Consultancy within the Glasgow office of CBRE. In 2006 Matt began working on the client side as the property director of niche Scottish hospitality company developing and managing a 30 strong portfolio of hotels, bars and restaurants, together with the management of an in-house maintenance team. Matt was joined in 2007 by William Bell to run the ever expanding portfolio. In 2009 Matt and William returned to the commercial property consultancy with the establishment of EPCA.

Matt has been involved in a number of interesting projects during EPCA's first five years, from property acquisition surveys and due diligence, to dilapidations and schedules of condition. Matt has also been involved in project managing a number of sizeable refurbishment projects in both the industrial and office sectors.

Sustainability and energy efficiency have been key issues for Matt for a number of years and he is an experienced energy performance assessor for non-domestic property in Scotland.

William Bell

William Bell is a Chartered Building Surveyor with a long track record in commercial property, and a series of specialist interests in the fields of statutory compliance and sustainability.

William was formerly an Associate Director of Building Consultancy with the Glasgow office of Savills, having previously worked at CBRE. In 2007 William joined Matt White working client side in the hospitality and leisure industry, managing and developing a 30 strong portfolio of hotels, bars and restaurants. In 2009 William and Matt returned to commercial property consultancy with the establishment of EPCA.

William is an experienced construction health and safety consultant, CDM Principal Designer and Certified Member of the Association for Project Safety. In addition, William advises a range of clients on Fire Safety. William is a qualifed Asbestos Surveyor holding a P402 certificate from the British Occupational Hygiene Society.

Lastly William has a keen interest in the energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings. He is an experienced Energy Performance Assessor and oversees the Energy Performance Certification for non-domestic property in Scotland.

Katie Dunbar

Katie Dunbar is a Senior Building Surveyor. She has a First Class Honours Degree in Building Surveying from Glasgow Caledonian University and has recently passed her final examinations to become a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Katie is a qualified Level 3 Energy Performance Assessor for non-domestic properties in Scotland.

Katie assists the senior staff in Building Surveying, Energy Performance and CDM 2015 related work.

Charles is a Junior Building Surveyor, and has recently achieved a First Class Honours Degree in Building Surveying from Glasgow Caledonian University. His next challenge is studying for his final examinations to attain Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. In the meantime, Charles assists the senior staff in Building Surveying and CDM 2015 related work.

John McCafferty is our Senior Principal Designer, working with William Bell and Leanne McDermott in the delivery of our CDM services. John has a First Class Honours Degree in Building Surveying and an HND in Construction Management. John is a qualified CDM Principal Designer and member of the CIOB. John has 15 years experience in the construction industry having started his career as a plastering and rendering tradesman before specialising in construction health & safety.

At EPCA, John’s role is to act as CDM Principal Designer on a variety of projects, mainly involving the refurbishment and alteration of existing buildings. He also provides on-site CDM auditing on a wide variety of private and public sector projects including new build developments. John is currently working towards accreditation with the Association for Project Safety for his CDM Principal Designer services.

Leanne McDermott

Leanne is an accomplished CDM Principal Designer and a Chartered Building Surveyor with a long track record in the public sector. Leanne has practised as a Building Surveyor since 2004, and specialised in CDM practice for the last seven years. Leanne is a Certified Member of the Association for Project Safety and has CDM experience extending to a wide range of sectors including public sector, health and social care, education, offices, industrial, retail, hotels, defence, and process engineering in the whiskey distillery and oil & gas sectors. In addition, Leanne is a Technical Member of IOSH and a qualified asbestos surveyor.

James Jackson

James Jackson is our Associate Director for Energy Performance and Sustainability. James is an experienced energy performance professional and is accredited for non-domestic and domestic property in both Scotland and England (Levels 3 and 4 buildings).

In addition, James is an accredited Section 63 Adviser and leads the implementation of the new The Assessment of Energy Performance of Non-domestic Buildings (Scotland) Regulations 2016.

Kirk McInally

LEVEL 4 EPC ASSESSOR

Kirk is an experienced EPC Assessor in our Energy Performance and Sustainability department. Kirk is accredited for non-domestic and domestic property in both Scotland and England & Wales (Levels 3 and 4 buildings). Kirk has also achieved accreditation as a Section 63 Adviser and advises clients on the implementation of The Assessment of Energy Performance of Non-domestic Buildings (Scotland) Regulations 2016.

The Company

EPCA was founded in Glasgow in 2009 by Matt White and William Bell. Both directors have backgrounds working for the UK's largest property consultancies. Matt is a former Associate Director of Building Consultancy for CBRE, and William is a former Associate Director for Savills. From a standing start, we have established EPCA as a leading independent Building Consultancy with industry leading expertise in specialist areas such as construction health and safety, energy performance compliance and asbestos surveying.
